Our Mission

Our mission is to create accessible opportunities for students of all backgrounds to gain exposure to competitive math.

Our Story

ExcelAcademe began as a passion project between students who loved math competitions and wanted to create something of our own. We were already immersed in problems and competitions, but as our love for math grew, we found ourselves asking about accessibility in math competitions. We realized that tens of thousands of students get inadvertently excluded from math competitions due to registration fees, logistical expenses, and travel commitments. As we deliberated ways to bridge this gap, we realized that our math competition backgrounds put us in the perfect position to tackle this problem.

Early ideas involved free math competition classes and student fundraisers, but we ultimately realized that the best solution would be to create a competition centered around accessibility. The main difficulty we faced was determining how to write and run a zero-income math competition without sacrificing challenge and problem quality. Since we decided to eliminate registration fees, we secured sponsorships from companies such as Wolfram, Jane Street, and Desmos, while searching for passionate volunteers to help create tests and host events.

Today, the Excel Math Competition is a nonprofit math competition dedicated to the mission of providing an inclusive opportunity to explore math competitions. ExcelAcademe is still a passion project at its core. Our goal is to continue creating quality problems for students of all backgrounds. Over the next few years, we hope to build a stronger community, expand to more schools, and potentially start new initiatives beyond our original competitive series.
